The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is a comprehensive training program that prepares individuals to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This course is approved by the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT).
The EMT course is open to anyone who meets the following criteria:
- At least 18 years of age
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Basic proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Physically capable of performing the duties required of an EMT
The EMT course covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Basic life support (BLS)
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Airway management
- Patient assessment
- Medical and trauma emergencies
- Emergency childbirth
- Ambulance operations
- Legal and ethical issues in emergency medical services
The EMT course runs for a total of 40 days, with each session lasting 8 hours. Refer to the updated schedule found on this section.
