This course has been designed for those who wish to develop their coaching and driving skills and to gain a qualification from a regionally recognized brand. The course has been developed to build awareness through coaching, client-centered learning, and reflective practice, based on the principles of the Goals for Driver Education.
Objectives & Learning Outcomes:
The purpose of this Customized Award is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to manage the implementation of a program of driver training based on a Cascade Training System. The qualification can be delivered in conjunction with the SaveFast Level 2 Extended Award in Driver Assessment.

By the end of the course, candidates will:
- Understand local traffic laws and international best practice and apply them whilst driving
- Demonstrate responsibility for the safety of all passengers and other road users whilst driving
- Complete two reflective accounts and development plans using Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle
- Be able to demonstrate driving skills to an internationally acceptable standard using driving commentary as required
- Apply a systematic approach to the driving task
- Be able to demonstrate use of instructional commentary as a teaching and learning tool
- Drive to a minimum standard under assessment conditions
- Be able to coach and facilitate learning in class and on-road using a client centred approach
- Deliver an interactive classroom-based training session using a variety of media
- Be able to apply the principles of the ‘Goals for Driver Education (GDE)’ to develop driver awareness.
- Be able to deliver a coaching session using a recognized model (GROW, STEER, CIGAR, etc.)

Assessment
Theory content is assessed via 30 question multiple choice test that candidates have 45 minutes to complete
Classroom
During the classroom assessment candidates are required to deliver a 30-minute interactive training session on a Road Risk Management topic. Trainers must make use of two presentational media. Sessions are marked on time management, content, engagement & rapport, use of resources, session structure and audience participation.
Practical
Practical assessments consist of a 45-minute assessed drive, which must be to a minimum standard and must contain Instructional commentaries on two topics relevant to the driver being trained. The second part of the assessment is a driver development session, delivered by the client using their chosen coaching model and Client Centered Learning techniques.
Prerequisites
Participants must hold a valid driving license for the category of vehicle being trained on. Participants are expected to have a good level of English or to provide an interpreter. Participants must have a good working knowledge of local traffic laws and road procedures.
